White County 911/Dispatch is urgently asking residents to avoid driving due to widespread flooding and hazardous road conditions across the area.

“IF YOU DO NOT HAVE TO GET OUT AND DRIVE ON THESE ROADS, PLEASE STAY HOME,” the department stressed in a public statement. Emergency responders are dealing with a growing number of serious situations, including vehicles being swept away, washed-out roads, and trees and powerlines down across roadways and homes.

Crews are working around the clock to respond to the high volume of emergency calls, but officials say the situation is rapidly evolving and extremely dangerous. Additional reports of flooded roads continue to come in, and the risk is expected to continue with more rain in the forecast.

White County 911 emphasizes the seriousness of this flooding and is asking all residents to stay alert, remain at home if possible, and avoid flooded areas at all costs.

Residents are also encouraged to check current flood levels and warnings through the NOAA website to stay informed and plan accordingly.

This is a developing emergency, and officials are urging the public to take all warnings seriously and prioritize safety.
