On January 29, 2024, Bald Knob Animal Control faced an unusual challenge when a skunk at the shelter attempted to charge Control Officers. Swiftly captured, the skunk was taken to the Arkansas Department of Health for rabies testing, and unfortunately, the results came back positive.
While such instances are rare, we emphasize the critical importance of ensuring your pets are up-to-date on rabies vaccinations through a licensed veterinary facility. Rabies is a potentially fatal viral disease typically transmitted through bites from infected animals to others.
