A major step forward has been taken in preserving the rich history of Bald Knob. In partnership with the White County Historical Society, Scott Akridge and former Mayor Barth Grayson recently completed digging the six post holes needed for the Janet Clark Project — a long-envisioned effort to honor some of Bald Knob’s most historic sites.

With all required ONE CALL approvals secured, the project is now entering its final stages. These six custom-cast historical monuments were planned and arranged by Janet Clark, who has worked diligently to ensure these important landmarks receive proper recognition.

The markers will commemorate:

  • The Methodist Church

  • The Catholic Church

  • The Big Rock at the original Bald Knob site — a natural formation that was never quarried

  • The historic Bald Knob Depot

  • The Berry Sheds, which reflect Bald Knob’s agricultural heritage

  • The Campbell-Chrisp-Grayson Home, tied closely to the town’s founding families

The posts will be set in the coming days, followed by the placement of the official historic signs.

This project is a powerful tribute to the people and places that shaped Bald Knob — a legacy that will now be preserved for future generations to see and celebrate.

Stay tuned to the City of Bald Knob for updates as these markers are installed around town!
