The Searcy Police Department has issued an important warning about a phone scam that’s been making rounds in the area. Scammers are calling individuals, claiming to be law enforcement officers, and demanding payment for supposed warrants or fines. These criminals may even insist on payment via Bitcoin, gift cards, or other untraceable methods—and in some cases, they specifically tell victims not to come to the police department.

Let’s be clear:
No legitimate officer will ever call you to collect fines or request payment over the phone.
The Searcy Police Department—and any real law enforcement agency—will not ask for Bitcoin, gift cards, or any type of online payment.
If you receive one of these calls:
Do not share any personal or financial information.
Hang up immediately.
Call 501-268-3531 and ask to speak with an officer to report the scam.
You’re also welcome to visit the Searcy Police Department in person at 101 N. Gum St.
While there have been no reports of this scam in Bald Knob so far, it’s important to stay vigilant and spread the word to protect friends, family, and neighbors—especially those who may be more vulnerable to these tactics.
Stay alert. Stay safe. And when in doubt, contact your local police department directly.
